The objective of this article is to discuss and problematize the understanding on reading of students of 5th year of Primary Education of a private school, located not in the municipality of Vacaria-RS, as well as to present the preferred sites of the interlocutors, in order to search for evidence on the constitution of digital readers. The research is based, in particular, on the reflections of Larrosa, Chartier, Santaella and Cameira and Cardoso about reading and readers. The methodological approach undertaken is empirical, of a qualitative nature, being the corpus composed of the statements produced by twenty students of 5th year of Basic Education. It is pointed out that reading through digital play represents a challenge to the reader and can enable the appropriation, invention, production of meanings and senses to the hypertext.
