Abstract

SILVA, Raphaela Reis Conceição Castro  and  CARVALHO, Francione Oliveira. AFRO-BRAZILIAN AND AFRICAN HISTORY AND CULTURE: experience in teacher training from an action-research project. Revista Teias [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.especial, pp.73-92.  Epub Feb 18, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2021.62652.

Considering that even in 2021, many teachers are unaware of Law 10.639 of 2003 and Law 11.645 of 2008, laws that establish the mandatory theme "Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous History and Culture" in the official curriculum of the education system, especially in the In the areas of Artistic Education, Literature and Brazilian Histories, the objective of this work is to present a possibility of training for teachers in the education system in the city of Niterói/RJ, offering resources to work on Afro-Brazilian culture, history and memory in schools . To this end, action research is carried out, reflecting on the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the training course entitled "Afro-Brazilian culture fighting racism in the classroom: reflections and teaching strategies" offered in 1st semester of 2021, by a federal educational institution. Thus, it is observed that most graduates of the extension course declared themselves as black or brown, which allows us to conclude that there is still a large portion of white teachers, who are the majority in the city of Niterói, to be reached. Furthermore, we cannot fail to highlight the effect of the worldwide pandemic caused by the new coronavirus on teaching work, which had to be combined with an extra course.
