This article has as its theme the debate about immigrant children and Early Childhood Education in academic research in the area of education. Its objective is to present a synthesis and analytical considerations about the research carried out in the educational field. As a methodology, a systematic search of theses, dissertations and articles was carried out on specific online platforms. After collecting the data, seven theses and dissertations with the referenced theme were analyzed, and their authors were: Siller (2011); Silva (2014); Santos (2018); Alexander (2019); Maçaneiro; (2021); Machado (2020) and Lorzing (2021). The considerations and conclusions of the work point to a substantial increase in research on immigrant children and Early Childhood Education in the field of education, especially in articles past the year 2020. The analyses of theses and dissertations highlight the themes of difference, diversity and some of them racism and the reception of immigrant children in educational institutions. It was also found by the researchers, in general, that the immigrant culture was not valued in the institutions and, at the same time, attempts to welcome children in the school space. Finally, the research emphasizes the need to expand discussions and carry out new studies on the subject.
