Abstract

FRIEDRICH, Tatyana Scheila  and  BERTOLDO, Jaqueline. BETWEEN OTHER PEDAGOGIES AND KNOWLEDGE: contributions of interculturality to the right to education of migrants in Brazil. Revista Teias [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.69, pp.178-193.  Epub Feb 28, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2022.65907.

The migration flows to Brazil in recent decades, especially from the Global South, have revealed multiple challenges in promoting human rights. In the case of the right to education, the presence of migrants and refugees in the educational networks has revealed other forms of exclusion from the difference that amplify inequalities in societies with deep colonial roots like Brazil. In this context, this research aims to identify the main theoretical and practical contributions of critical interculturalism to change the right to education of migrants and refugees in the Brazilian reality. The theoretical-methodological framework is situated in the theories of modernity/coloniality and configures an alternative path of research and practice facing the challenges of non-Western migrants' rights. Facing the experience of migrants in Brazilian educational systems, interculturality represents another possibility of welcoming the other and the difference from an ethic of alterity.
