Abstract

CORTEZ, Dayane  and  BACK, Angela Cristina Di Palma. CONSIDERATIONS ON THE TEACHING OF PORTUGUESE IN THE RECEPTION LANGUAGE CONDITION. Revista Teias [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.69, pp.218-229.  Epub Feb 28, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2022.65967.

This essay-like article proposes a reflection on the role of language policies in establishing access to teaching and learning Portuguese as a Language of Reception (PLR). The questions systematized here are based on teaching experiences in the PLR area and research diagnoses that point to the lack of (widespread) language policies, according to Cortez (2018), for the reception, systematized for arriving migrants. Such reflections are supported by Bakthin (2006), Freire (2019), Grosso (2010), hooks (2017), Ruíz (1984), through bibliographic research, with the purpose of reflecting on the promotion and teaching of the Portuguese language in the reception context, with a view to a language teaching practice that does not perpetuate colonialism and oppression. The debate is organized in the context of the scenario, in the discussions to understand and become aware of the implications for the pedagogical practices of PLR and the relevance of a linguistic planning established according to the needs of those migrants who arrive at a "formal" learning process. Discussions about contemporary migrations and their local and global impacts are expanded, as well as understanding the different fronts of action of the reception condition, including linguistics, strengthening the area of action, research, and formation of PLR. These are themes to which this essay aims to collaborate.
