Abstract

CORREA, Rosa Lydia Teixeira. WOMEN TEACHERS: field, power, and resistance (1957-1970). Revista Teias [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.70, pp.71-85.  Epub Feb 23, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2022.67322.

The study aims to analyze aspects of the formation and performance of women, rural primary teachers, in schools in the municipality of Bocaiúva do Sul - PR. The purpose is to bring some elements of the professional career of these teachers between the years 1957 and 1970. It reflects on modes of resistance that occur through practices that are not used in the field of teaching work in power relations established in the environment where they worked. For this purpose, oral narratives resulting from data collected through semi-structured interviews were used. Elements of trajectories marked by challenges posed by the professionalization and teaching practice demanded by the nature of work, but also by the imperative of reconciling work with domestic and maternity issues are indicated; also, the occupation of a prominent social place and of local power in the spaces in which they were responsible for the schooling of children in rural primary schools. The results point to different modes of social/local insertion, where those women developed different actions from those exclusively destined to the educational field.

Keywords : women; rural teachers; resistances; educational field.
