Abstract

GOMES, Graciele Maria Coelho de Andrade. THE FEMALE ARTIST EMANCIPATION: the case of the poetess from Pernambuco Léa Tereza Lopes de Oliveira. Revista Teias [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.70, pp.190-212.  Epub Feb 23, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2022.67253.

This article aims to identify and understand the process of emancipation of the Pernambuco artist woman during the 1960s to 1970s, based on the analysis of the life and work of the poetess Léa Tereza Lopes de Oliveira. It is a study based on the methodology of Oral History (ALBERTI, 2004) and is theoretically based on Cultural History (CHARTIER, 2002) and the History of Women (PERROT, 2017; 2019). In order to understand the artist's formative process as a woman and the construction of her poetics in art, I discuss the concepts of practices and representations. From this study it was possible to observe the life and work of the poetess exemplifies how the family, the school and the sociability networks maintain a relationship with the construction of the subject's subjectivity and with its process of emancipation. Its historical trajectory reveals the need for an education that opens space for sensitive discussions of life, such as sexuality, political formation and dignity. Thus, Léa Lopes is among the women who experienced a castrating education in the 1960s and 1970s in Brazil and who used maneuvers to escape the androcentric relationships that are still present in society in the 21st century.

Keywords : female emancipation; women's education; marginal poetry; female artist.
