Abstract

SOUTHWELL, Myriam. STORIES OF WOMEN EDUCATORS: transgressions and alterations of school organization. Revista Teias [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.70, pp.389-402.  Epub Feb 23, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2022.67219.

The first decades of the twentieth century brought to the scene a critique of the educational system developed in the second half of the nineteenth century, questioning those unfinished promises of that educational deployment and the need to cover neglected social sectors. by educators in the city of Rosario who transgressed the mandate formulated towards them. This is the experience of Haydée Maciel, in particular, the implementation and deployment of the Open Air School or Open Doors School (created in Rosario in 1916 and closed in 1931) that adopted a non-graded organization and without rigid schedules. Located in the physical space of the racetrack, the school received the children of its employees and also children who worked in the streets (shoe shiners, canillitas, etc.). This experience also took place at a time of consolidation of the training and work of women teachers, who were striving to develop conceptual perspectives and autonomous work, challenging not only the role assigned to them by the system, but also the hegemonic format of schooling.

Keywords : open doors school; educators; school organization.
