Abstract

SANTOS, Carolina Barbosa dos  and  PEREIRA, Grazielle Rodrigues. TEACHER EDUCATION IN SCIENCE MUSEUM: analysis of education workshops at Espaço Ciência InterAtiva. Revista Teias [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.71, pp.310-331.  Epub Feb 28, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2022.64182.

The aim of this article is to present the development and contributions of a workshop of a course for teacher of the Science Museum Espaço Ciência InterAtiva (ECI), under a bias of critical-reflexive teacher education. The workshop was based in physical phenomena of Geometrical Optics, present in a Neuroscience exposition of the Museum. The formation was offered to elementary school teachers from schools in the Baixada Fluminense, in Rio de Janeiro. The methodology used was of a qualitative nature, whose data collection took place through questionnaires (before and after training) and semi-structured interviews (after training). The research was divided into three stages: visit to the ECI, realization of the workshop and evaluation of the course. The collected material was analyzed by the thematization method. The results showed that the participants did not have the habit of visiting Science Museums and did not know the ECI, as for pedagogical practices, they used a lot, exclusively the textbook. It was verified after the formation, teachers who inserted in their class methodologies worked in the workshop as practical activities, experiments, in addition to more dynamic and ludic classes. The workshop also brought together teachers at the Science Museum, who came to see it as a place for science education and formation. It can be inferred that this study was relevant in promoting a space for debate and reflection in a critical way about teaching practices, it provided exchanges of knowledge, dialogue between participants and the construction of new knowledge in the areas of the Science, as well as the importance of Museums for the continuing education of teachers.
