Abstract

SILVA, Divane Oliveira de Moura; SILVA, Neide Menezes  and  CUNHA, Katia Silva. ACADEMIC PRODUCTIONS IN EDUCATION POLICY: the use of Stephen Ball's theoretical contribution. Revista Teias [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.71, pp.362-379.  Epub Feb 28, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2022.66967.

This paper presents the results of a bibliographic research, with a qualitative-quantitative approach. We aimed to investigate the reception of the studies of the English sociologist Stephen Ball in the Brazilian educational policy area, in view of our interest in using his Theory of Political Action in the development of our academic research, which has as object of study the Educational Evaluation promoted by the Secretariat of Education of Pernambuco State through its Public Management Modernization Program. Thus, qualitatively we conducted a bibliographic survey exploring authors who present Stephen Ball's studies for policy evaluation, among which we highlight: Lopes (2016), Mainardes (2006; 2018a; 2018b) and Rosa (2019). Quantitatively, we have mapped universities and have listed researchers who had adopted Ball as an alternative theoretical reference for educational policy analysis. We infer that Ball's studies enable a reflective investigative path with a contextualized perspective, as well as the understanding of the social conditions that surround public policies, which has provided the basis for a significant number of Brazilian researchers and educational academic studies distributed throughout much of Brazil.

Keywords : public policy; educational evaluation; Pernambuco State; Stephen Ball.
