The present work sought to investigate the trajectory of the Mais Infância Program, a public policy created in 2013 by the municipality of Niterói - RJ, aimed at expanding the vacancies in early childhood education, as well as qualifying the offer. content analysis was used as a methodological tool to analyze six semistructured interviews carried out with municipal managers and family members, about the perceptions about the policy in the reality of the municipality's education. From the categories built in the field, we sought to understand the strengths of the policy, and the points that can be improved. As a result, it is concluded that the Program is a successful policy, which has contributed to the quantitative expansion, in accordance with what the National Education Plan demands, but also a policy aimed at expanding social quality, which takes into account it counts on the valorization and teacher training, the quality of the physical structure of schools, which promotes the integration between caring and educating, through bidocence and other strategies.
