Abstract

PICOLI, Gabriela dos Santos  and  FERRARO, José Luís. RESEARCH AS AN EDUCATIONAL PRINCIPLE IN ONLINE CLASSES OF SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS IN ELEMENTARY EDUCATION. Revista Teias [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.72, pp.265-277.  Epub Aug 03, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2023.64634.

This paper sought to understand the perceptions of science and mathematics teachers about research as an educational principle in online classes in basic education. The participants were teachers/course participants of a stricto sensu post-graduation course at a private university in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. The instrument of collection adopted was a questionnaire with open questions and the treatment of the data was carried out using Textual Discourse Analysis (TDA) - which resulted in the emerging categories: I) research as an educational principle; II) the role of the teacher facing research in online classes; III) implications of research on students' learning and development; and IV) challenges faced in online classes. From this, it was concluded that teachers understand classroom research as a strategy that needs to be included in the planning, because they believe that it enhances pedagogical practice by promoting investigative experiences that decenter the educational relationship, giving more protagonism to students.

Keywords : education; science and mathematics teaching; research as an educational principle; elementary education.
