Abstract

The present study aimed to map and explore the scientific production on physical education in childhood education, published in the Thematic Working Group (GTT) “School” of CBCE/Conbrace between the years of 2005 and 2019. A bibliometric analysis was carried out on 52 articles that referred to physical education in childhood education. The results indicated that the production on the subject remained stable throughout the investigated period, concentrated in the southeastern region of Brazil and having children as the main investigated population, valuing their role as protagonists of the researches. The keywords most used in published studies are childhood education and physical education. It is concluded that the scientific production around physical education in early childhood education linked to the thematic working group ‘school’ is still incipient in some regions of the country, being concentrated in few universities that produce on the subject, demanding expansion in order to support and improve under graduation courses and to stimulate the debate on the presence of physical education teachers in child education.
