Abstract

BOMFIM, Marcus. TEXTBOOK EXERCISES AND THE DEMOCRATIC EVALUATION OF LEARNING. Revista Teias [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.72, pp.394-407.  Epub Aug 03, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2023.67054.

By considering the discussions in the field of studies and research on educational evaluation, this essay proposes a critical analysis of exercises and activities in textbooks as tools for learning evaluation. Based on a post-foundational approach (MARCHAT, 2009) - which questions the transcendental essentialisms that work as the foundation in meaning-making processes - the arguments in this paper displaces the hegemonic meaning of signifiers such as learning - from the contributions of Biesta (2017) and Gabriel (2016); and evaluation - from the studies of Álvarez Méndez (2001, 2017) and Fernandes (2009), by supporting the proposition of a democratic evaluation of learning (MARTINS, 2020), in which exercises in textbooks become one of its instruments because they consist of privileged spaces for feedback and regulation.

Keywords : learning evaluation; exercises; textbooks.
