Abstract

VIEIRA, Fernanda Gomes  and  DALLABRIDA, Norberto. EDUCATIONAL ORIENTATION AND EXTRACLASS ACTIVITY AT THE APPLICATION COLLEGE OF UFRJ IN THE SECONDARY SCHOOL JOURNAL (1959-1961). Revista Teias [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.73, pp.261-273.  Epub Aug 24, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2023.62365.

The application college of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro was the first school created in Brazil, in 1948, with the purpose to carry on pedagogical experimentations. However, the instructions to implement an innovative essay on secondary education, named the experimental secondary classes, was published only 10 years later, and the classes effectively started on the following year. The present document aims to analyze the representation of the educational orientation service and the extraclass activities of the experimental secondary classes of the UFRJ’s application college in the secondary school journal from 1959 to 1961, based on three related articles published in this journal. The theoretical orientation followed the representation concept of the French historian Roger Chartier (2002, 2011) as well as the circulation concept of Marta Carvalho (2003). Thus, the innovations analyzed by the experimental classes aimed at educating youth to fulfill the needs of a modern society.

Keywords : secondary experimental classes; secondary school journal; UFRJ application college; educational guidance; extraclass activity.
