PEREIRA, Gabriela Lanza de Castro; MESQUITA, Ana Flávia Silva  and  BARROS, Marcelo Diniz Monteiro de. ANALYSIS OF MOLECULAR BIOLOGY CONTENT IN HIGH SCHOOL BIOLOGY TEXTBOOKS ABSTRACT. Revista Teias [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.73, pp.274-289.  Epub Aug 24, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2023.65899.

In Brazil, textbooks are widely used in several schools. In some realities, it is the only instrument for students and teachers in the development of the teaching-learning process, reflecting its great importance. As a result of the higher level of difficulty in teaching subjects that address molecular techniques, it is necessary to understand how the contents of molecular biology are presented in textbooks, aiming at a greater understanding of topics rarely discussed in class and, consequently, seeking to improve teaching. The objective of this study was to analyze the molecular biology content in two collections of high school biology textbooks, totaling six books, regarding the presence, adequacy to sociocultural realities and necessary updates to train students for a more comprehensive education. The two collections had in their entirety different expositions regarding the contents related to molecular biology, so that one of the collections covered more the theme of this study.
