Abstract

DINIZ, Ercules Laurentino  and  BAPTISTA, Maria das Graças de Almeida. DISTANCE TEACHER EDUCATION: a historical movement in the perspective of theses and dissertations. Revista Teias [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.73, pp.360-371.  Epub Aug 24, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2023.70118.

The phenomenon discussed below has been the subject of reflections by several researchers, as attested by the theses and dissertations discussed here. Distance teacher education is taking great strides and the objective of this article is to highlight the historical movement, therefore, contradictory, that marks the ongoing process, from the perspective of academic productions developed in brazilian universities, during the first two decades of the XXI century. Twenty-one of these works developed between 2006 and 2021 were analyzed, having as methodological support the historical-dialectical materialism, from which the researcher is able to identify the contradictions of the phenomenon addressed. The results indicate, among other aspects, the democratizing aspect of the modality in question without denying, however, the actions considered harmful to teacher training, such as the massification often inherent to courses developed in these molds. It is believed that the analyzes presented contribute to the planning of distance courses aimed at teacher training, since the experiences reported by the researchers were developed in several Brazilian states and under the guidance of the most varied proposals, especially the Open University of Brazil (UAB).
