Abstract

RODRIGUES, Guilherme Goretti; SOUZA, Dileno Dustan Lucas de  and  BICALHO, Ramofly. E. P. THOMPSON'S CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE WORKING CLASS: class struggle and experiences. Revista Teias [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.74, pp.248-261.  Epub Dec 06, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2023.70845.

Eduard Palmer Thompson is one of those intellectuals who wastes no time in reflecting on the relationship between theory and practice, since he carried them out in his daily and permanent struggle against capital and its barbarities. In this sense, without pretending to exhaust any kind of concept or debate, our objective is to recover in some aspects Thompson's assumptions about the class struggle and experiences, as well as reflect them for our present time, above all, in the warnings that there is no theory without social reality and that the motor of history was and always will be men and women of flesh and blood, as they live and make their own history of struggle, that is, the class struggle. To do so, as a methodology, we use the formulations present in selected works by Thompson and other Marxist authors, which carry out direct dialogue or which allow us to draw parallels that find the theory of praxis as a reference for struggle.

Keywords : class struggle; working class; barbarism..
