Abstract

RANNIERY, Thiago; OLIVEIRA, Anna Luiza  and  ROCHA, Damião. “YOU EXIST AND ARE IMPORTANT TO US…”: issues of alterity and difference in curriculum polices. Revista Teias [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.75, pp.3-14.  Epub Dec 26, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2023.80462.

The presentation of this Thematic Section, organized in partnership with the Brazilian Curriculum Association (ABdC), is an invitation to read the articles approved for dialogue with the speech of the Minister of Human Rights and Citizenship, Prof. Silvio Almeida. The statement, repeated several times during the inauguration ceremony, served as a trigger to condense and deepen conversations about difference and alterity in research, theories and curricular policies. In this context, the very composition of the presentation attempts to perform the dense and complex tangle that constitutes the field of curriculum. Each of one the organizers, from three different regions of the country and with different intellectual backgrounds, explored in one of the section their reading of the speech act and its connections to research on curriculum, difference, and alterity. In writing, this exercise seeks to uncover the resonances that populate the curriculum field rather than common movements or concepts. By reading the articles in a diffractive way, this thematic section aims to reveal how difference and alterity have been constituted as objects of inquiry, the theoretical perspectives and methodologies employed, the ethical and aesthetic inflections they provoke, as well as the dreams, limits, and political promises that surround us.

Keywords : curriculum; difference; alterity.
