The article presents a genealogy of the idea of intersectionality in sociological studies of childhood in order to tense whether the concept of infancy, in this perspective, carries an intersectional dimension. From a foucaultian-inspired genealogical approach, it seeks to analyze the genesis of this concept within feminist perspectives, proposing to inspect in more detail at subaltern feminisms, which trigger the concept of intersectionality and racialization to analyze the different forms of oppression. By asking "Can the child speak?" the text makes an analogy with the question put by the Indian feminist Gayatri Spivak, “Can the subaltern speak?” questioning whether children can be placed in the key of subalternity because, over their body, different devices in dispute act. The child speaks, however there is a discursive hierarchy and a network of knowledge and power that prevent us from listening. It is suggested that subaltern feminisms bring important analytical and conceptual tools that can enable other visibilities in relation to children.
