HENRIQUE JUNIOR, Sérgio de Souza  and  PEREIRA, Grazielle Rodrigues. MEDIATION IN A MUSEUM OF SCIENCE IN BELFORD ROXO/RJ AS A FORM OF SOCIAL INCLUSION. Revista Teias [online]. 2024, vol.25, n.76, pp.334-347.  Epub Mar 07, 2024. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2024.74386.

This work investigated the importance of science museums and centers for the training of mediators, basic education students in a science museum located in the city of Belford Roxo in Baixada Fluminense. The objective was to analyze the contributions of this space, during the design and implementation stages, in the training of student mediators, as well as the impact on the perspective of mediators on Science. What has changed in their perspective on science? The role of the mediator is to transform scientific knowledge into something accessible through interactive activities and to stimulate public interest in science. The research was carried out with a qualitative approach, using an online questionnaire with closed and open questions to assess the participation of students in the process of designing and implementing the center. The results indicated that being in a science center provided important and unprecedented experiences for students, arousing interest and curiosity in relation to science. The feeling of belonging to the space was also highlighted by the participants. In addition, the mediators' training methodology was of great relevance for understanding the importance of these spaces for the education and training of these mediators. It is concluded that student involvement is an important tool for the consolidation of a science center and can generate the sense of belonging and engagement necessary for the inclusion of the entire school community.
