The aim of this article is to understand the conceptions of sexuality held by teachers of Youth and Adult Education (EJA) at a rural school in the municipality of Antônio Cardoso (BA). To this end, we start from the assumption that these conceptions contribute to the constitution of pedagogical practices. The study was characterized as descriptive and exploratory, with a qualitative approach. The information was obtained by applying a questionnaire with five open questions to 12 (twelve) teachers who work in EJA Campo and analyzed based on thematic content analysis. The theoretical framework guiding the research was sexuality studies. As a result, we identified that the conceptions of sexuality are based on preventive and heteronormative discourses, which produce different effects on teaching practice. We conclude that the inclusion of the theme of sexuality in teacher training, from a perspective that opposes pathologization and heteronormative actions, is a political act aimed at guaranteeing human rights and that the challenge of working on Sex Education within issues that are not only biological, but also historical, social and cultural is urgent and current.
