SANTOS, Luana Alencar dos; SILVA, Alexandre Leite dos Santos e LOPES, Suzana Gomes. TRAINING IN A DEGREE COURSE IN RURAL EDUCATION IN NATURAL SCIENCE AREA: between the pedagogical project and the voices of graduates. Revista Teias [online]. 2024, vol.25, n.79, e79617. Rural education emerged from the struggles of social movements for quality education, ensuring dignity of work and teaching for rural people. With this concern, degrees in rural education were created that need to provide, from a historical-critical perspective, cultural-cognitive content in addition to pedagogical-didactic preparation for teacher training. Considering these specificities, the objective of this work was to discuss training in a degree course in rural education, natural sciences area, at the Federal University of Piauí. Data were collected between 2018 and 2019 through documentary research and semi-structured interviews. The results showed that most of the course workload is dedicated to the areas of natural sciences, mainly biology. More than 90% of the research participants stated that they felt prepared to teach the biology subject, but less than 50% felt prepared to teach chemistry and physics, highlighting the weakness in training focused on teaching these two disciplines. Among the reasons given by the research subjects for not feeling prepared, the curriculum of the course analyzed was the most cited.
