Currently, given the increasing number of children actively engaged in the digital world, there is a growing need for research aimed at understanding the implications of this proximity. With thLis in mind, the present study sought to identify scientific productions published between 2018 and 2022 concerning the use of digital technologies in childhood. To this end, a state-of-the-art mapping was conducted using the BDTD and OASIS databases. As a result, the thematic axes of the studies found were categorized into: (1) research for children - instructions, guidelines, and types of use; (2) research about children - impacts and contributions; and (3) research with children - focusing on experiences and relationships with technologies. The findings reveal contradictions: while predominantly theoretical studies portray children as incapable of building positive experiences in digital environments, empirical investigations highlight how children contribute to, subvert, and provoke transgressions within the virtual space.
