With this contribution we intend to analyse the metaphorical content of a few important images from the book V of the Republic, trying to show their epistemic reach in the context of the construction of a discourse on the paideutic training of the philosopher. We intend to show that the use of images in a philosophical discourse corresponds to a level of interpretation which points to a multitude of philosophical meanings, whose value must be included in the educational path of the Kallipolis’ guardians.
