DOZOL, Marlene de Souza. Da natureza e da densidade do humano na pedagogia de Rousseau. Educação e Filosofia [online]. 2012, vol.26, n.51, pp.47-69. ISSN 1982-596X.

Georges Gusdorf, in the second part of L’avénement des sciences humanies ao siécle des lumiéres (The ascension of human sciences in the age of enlightenment), affirms that Rousseaunian pedagogy is “comprehensive and global”. The proposal of the present study is to understand that affirmation. In other words, in what way does Rousseau, by means of an ambiguous idea of human nature, go beyond the materialist and sensualist theories of his time and build a concept of education that comprises deep metaphysical questions, provocative biological and psychological ramifications, up to lyrical considerations of the landscape of the physical world. The purpose here is to clarify the pedagogical utopia which, while not ignoring the diverse dimensions of that which is human, sought to combine the body and understanding without dissolving the recurrences of sensibility. The ethical-moral implications arising thereof appear as a condition for another utopia: that of a political and social character.
