MARTINS, Custódia Alexandra Almeida. Rousseau e o seu discurso: variações entre o eu e as justificações. Educação e Filosofia [online]. 2012, vol.26, n.51, pp.71-80. ISSN 1982-596X.

The desire of affirmation expressed by Rousseau in his life and in his work is reflected in a very evident way and sustained by four ideas revealed in the set of four letters written to Malesherbes. Each one of the letters describes these ideas, namely: the explanation of the true nature of his liking for solitude, explanation of his apparently contradictory tastes, explanation of the joy felt in retreats and, finally, the explanation why his colleagues accused him of fleeing from his social obligations. The discourse of Jean-Jacques Rousseau is personalist, oscillating between that which is constitutive of his being, of his character, and the justifications of this same constitution of character.

Palavras-chave : Rousseau; Philosoy; Discourse; Being.
