MEDICI, Rita. Coercizione e formazione. Il rapporto tra progetto educativo e teoria politica nel pensiero di Gramsci. Educação e Filosofia [online]. 2014, vol.28, n.55, pp.39-57. ISSN 1982-596X.

The question is whether there is a contradiction, Gramsci, from the educational perspective (“formation”), and the belief that in order to transform the present society in “regulated company” - which corresponds to what Marx called a communist society - is necessary to use means coercive (“coercion”). We examine the differences between the proposed future society that Marx and Gramsci. Unlike Marx, Gramsci does not put the focus of future society, “the bloom of individuality”, considering a certain standardization of work (and the worker) as inevitable. But the “trained gorilla” Taylor does not really exist, it is still a man, therefore, Gramsci believed that the developments of Fordism can create new social perspectives alternatives. It is not a development painless not automatic. In a different context, the Socialist, can be a form of self-coercion that workers will be able to develop a “new conformism”. So Gramsci coercion of a concept quite positive, considering the social economic processes that he can not do without it. This is also true on a historical- political Gramsci accepts and supports the need in some cases the use of strong-arm tactics. Even in the conception of how education should be conducted and education (the “formation” of man), Gramsci believes in the value, in these processes, a certain amount of coercion. There is therefore no contradiction between Gramsci coercion and formation, including educational perspective and political theory.
