In prison Gramsci develops his investigation to found a cosmopolitical democracy. The crisis of nation-State, exploded during the I World War, has highlighted the contradiction between the global dimension of economy and the closing nationalistic politics. It is possible to overcome this contradiction only if a political entity is able to combine the international dimension with a “popular” rooting of intellectual fonctions. The idea of a “new” cosmopolitism expresses this Gramsci’s vision.
