The aim of this article is to analyze E.J. Lowe’s main ontological theses regarding laws of nature, necessity, and contingency. In the first two paragraphs I show his ontological proposal, in particular his ‘fourcategory ontology’ and the dependence relations between fundamental categories. In the last two I discuss his position on the laws of nature status and his reflections on the difference between contingent and necessary laws of nature.
