The autobiographical writing has an historical-philosophical outline, adjectives that Vico uses as nouns in different contexts: in the first one he says to have written his life with ingenuità dovuta da istorico, in the second one he admits he's telling writing to be output of a true philosopher. Thence not only the strong and well-known contraposition with Descartes for ischiettezza as opposed to astuzia, because that ingenuità which means fidelity to historical fact and not artificial construction as Vico believed to have made the French philosopher. But the metaphor of the fil filo - also present in the biography of the Muratori - imply a unilinear conception of time in a cyclic system, consistent with the purpose to prevail of continuity of a vocation despite and through the pauses and breaks never denied, indeed reused as dialectical moments of a perennial making and, at the same time, of a past that does not ever deny.
