The paper represents the didactics state of art in Brazil by the analysis of research and publications realized in this area, in the range of the education postgraduate programs, of five Brazilian zones; by the identification of the fields and dimensions in which they are focused on; and by the qualification of the spreading vehicles in which this production has been published. The results indicate that in the interior of research lines linked to the Education postgraduate programs, in which the teaching and learning compose the object of study, the studies and publications in didactics leave much to be desired. The research and production about didactics are concerned in the investigative and professional fields and in the dimensions of foundation and manners, in other words, there is a supremacy of studies about the teaching and professional development, with focus for theoretical systematization and methodological and teaching strategies studies. From what is publicized and has priority in annals of events, less than one percent is published as an academic paper and; practically half of all is located in the low expressiveness periodicals. These data draw a didactics scenery, with signs about the regional needs, producing also a national diagnosis that will be able to aid in the elaboration of proposals, projects and intervention educational policies, in the different regions of Brazil aiming the entire country as an unity. Besides it sets bounds for a discussion in the area signaling the weakness, gaps and changing needs indicated to this field.
