Abstract

BRITO, Ângela Xavier de. Pupils choices about their own destinies at Notre-Dame de Sion. Educação e Filosofia [online]. 2016, vol.30, n.59, pp.53-79. ISSN 1982-596x.  https://doi.org/10.14393/REVEDFIL.issn.0102-6801.v30n59a2016-p53a79.

Brazilian sociology has so far given little attention to individual trajectories. The present article tries to seize the sense the girls coming from feminine elites of the 60s give to their life choices. Based on different sources, the author discusses the validity of the memory in apprehending synchronic and diachronic aspects of reality, and favours the interactionist concept of career, which seizes its sequential aspects. Our analysis dwells on the trajectories of the pupils of the College Notre-Dame de Sion in Rio de Janeiro from 1949 till 1961, objectified by means of questionnaires and interviews. This text focus mainly on a central point of their path, the moment they leave the protected climate of this school and must define a project which will confirm their adults' status, by choosing between marriage, university and professional perspectives.

Keywords : Trajectory; Feminine Elites; Memory; Interactionist Perspective; Career.
