Abstract

MARION, Jean-Luc. Going beyond metaphysics. Educação e Filosofia [online]. 2016, vol.30, suppl., pp.19-39. ISSN 1982-596x.  https://doi.org/10.14393/REVEDFIL.issn.0102-6801.v30nEspeciala2016-p19a39.

In his article, the author examines the problematic nature of the complex relationship between metaphysics and the thought that is supposed capable of going beyond it, Christian thought. In the first part, the author clarifies the internal tensions that are part of metaphysics, both in its historical development and in its current situation, and confirms its profoundly ambiguous and aporetic character. In this perspective, an urgent task of Christian thought appears, namely, to “go beyond” metaphysics, which consists of creating discourse that would overcome the initial aporia. This achievement, instead of reproducing avatars of an ontology of the object or of a being, dares to propose a new logic or rationality whose inspiration, in part, can be found in the third order of Pascal. Since then, the plan of attainment would be directed not only to developing the crucial problematic of the erotic phenomenon, but also to a rereading of metaphysical discourse in light of a new hermeneutic, ordered to agape.

Keywords : Metaphysics; Post-Metaphysical Thought; Christian Thought; Overcoming Metaphysics.
