Abstract

FERMANI, Arianna. The education as care and as full flourishing of the human being Reflections on paideia in Aristotle. Educação e Filosofia [online]. 2017, vol.31, n.61, pp.187-232. ISSN 1982-596x.  https://doi.org/10.14393/REVEDFIL.issn.0102-6801.v31n61a2017-p187a232.

This paper aims at focussing on the topic of education in Aristotle, sho wing as this reflection is original and current. The inquiry starts from the examination of the occurrences of some lemmas inside the Aristotelian Corpus particularly signifi cant respect to the issue of education, as for instance paide…a, trof», pa‹j, m£qhsij. We aim to show as Aristotelian research on the notion of paideia, in addition to use a specific methodology of inquiry, takes place inside two fundamental educational scenarios: in the first (which, in turn, articulates itself in a series of under-issues, as for instance the topic of the teaching of virtue or the one of the emotional training and of the education of passions) the education comes first ethics, while in the second education is ethics, according to the fundamental theoretical model of energeia.

Keywords : Education; Care; Human Flourishing; Ethics.
