The concept of social exclusion has been debated in recent decades both in academic theory, as in some public policy guidelines. From the master’s thesis we have developed in the field of Geography, we present a reflection based on literature about social exclusion in order to contribute to the debate and unders tanding of this controversy. In this article, we discussed the main arguments pre sent in the analysis of the concept of social exclusion and counter pose these pro positions with the outline of a critique that is based on the Marxist perspective. So we explain the methodological divergence in these two antagonistic approaches.
