ARRUDA, Marina Patrício  e  ROSA, Geraldo Antônio da. Loving the will to change the world: reflections on teaching practice. Educação e Filosofia [online]. 2017, vol.31, n.61, pp.589-608. ISSN 1982-596x.  https://doi.org/10.14393/REVEDFIL.issn.0102-6801.v31n61a2017-p589a608.

This paper summarizes a proposal for a reflection based on the thoughts of Brazilian educator Paulo Freire and Chilean Humberto Maturana. The loving will to change the world is the common point found in the intellectual production of these authors to support this reflection and the cultivation of love, the path to human fulfillment and alternative for those who aspire to peace. Thus, this article aims to discuss the loveliness as an assumption of change of teachers’ pedagogical practice. Professional development, as a long term process through which diffe rent types of opportunities and experiences add up, is strained by the demands of the present moment. Children of a modern age, we learn to value the rational condition of the human being and neglect our emotional capacity. Marked by this paradigm, some teachers still seek a training process that transcends the purely te chnical titling and training so that they can raise question from the praxis of living. Following these guidelines, we have sought to write this article based on theore tical discussions that recommend “a loving will change the world” as a possible way to reflect upon and foster renewed hope for the education professional. We understand that educating with love is to foster cooperation and not competition between human beings. Listening to the other is an act of love, and we teachers start to question the quality of our listening to reflect upon our teaching practice.
