Abstract

CEPAS, Filipe. Anthropophagy beyond metaphor: for a philosophy of difference (notes of a professor of philosophy). Educação e Filosofia [online]. 2017, vol.31, n.63, pp.1385-1396.  Epub Mar 09, 2021. ISSN 1982-596X.  https://doi.org/10.14393/revedfil.issn.0102-6801.v31n63a2017-05.

It seems an impossible task to think of anthropophagy beyond the opposition of metaphorical/literal, proper/non-proper. And yet, that is what Oswald de Andrade invites us to, when he defines thinking as being a kind of devouring, overcoming the opposition I/other. The state of war, the opposition itself, is constitutive, without presupposing a first identity (I devour, therefore I exist, we could say, or, “I am the enemy of my enemy”, in the formulation of Viveiros de Castro). This text proposes to freely explore, in an essayistic way, the devouring, the absence of reciprocity and the ephemeral communion to which it gives rise, and its implications for the teaching of philosophy.

Keywords : Anthropophagy; Denial of reciprocity; Teaching of philosophy.
