This article presents an attempt to show image as a virtual object, not only as that used on information technologies and in communication, but also as a perspective of representation. The mutations generated by the information society though digitalization processes promoted effects on the new images. From a critical point of view, the countless dimensions of the present approach will be limited to three: the image-machine as a historical construction; the sign that represents the image of the multiple artistic languages as diverse expressions; the limits of art as extreme possibilities between visibility and incivility. Lastly, final considerations about art and technologies of the virtual world in creating a cognitive encounter of cultural development.
