Abstract

CARVALHO, Magda Costa  and  KOHAN, Walter Omar. On the tree and rhizome: thinking beyond the method the encounter of philosophy with children. Educação e Filosofia [online]. 2018, vol.32, n.65, pp.527-564.  Epub Sep 21, 2020. ISSN 1982-596X.  https://doi.org/10.14393/revedfil.issn.0102-6801.v32n65a2018-04.

This work aims to consider philosophically the issue of the method in philosophical practices with children. It analyzes some influences received by the creators of Philosophy for Children, Matthew Lipman and Ann Margaret Sharp, like the pragmatism of J. Dewey. It describes the meanings of three similar expressions in Lipman's work: methodical, methodological and method. It offers some criticisms of method: Hans-Georg Gadamer, but especially Henri Bergson and Gilles Deleuze. Finally, he questions the need of a method for doing philosophy with children or, more broadly, for thinking childishly in education.

Keywords : Method; Philosophy for children; Childhood of thought.
