This theoretical study seeks to investigate what Bolle (1984) called the child's culture in the context of modernity in Walter Benjamin’s Work. In order to direct our research, we have recourse to the analysis of the Benjamin’s essays in which, in particular, the theme of childhood appears, especially the works Reflections on the child, the toy, the education (2002) and Berlin childhood: 1900 (2013). The culture of the child is constituted and presented in Benjamin’s essays by means of paths in which memory and history intersect, and thus appears diluted in the historical elements that register a temporality in transformation and re-arrangement of social roles in society in which the very The idea of childhood is redefined as modern.

Keywords : Childhood; Culture of the child; Modernity; Child protagonism; Walter Benjamin.
