This article aims to develop the concept of experience as Hegel conceives it in Phenomenology of the Spirit. For this purpose, my account will be supported by Jean Hyppolite’s and, specially, Heidegger’s interpretation of experience. Experience will be understood here as a determining aspect of a philosophical conception of education. The article is divided into six parts. First, I justify why experience, as Hegel understands it, contributes to elaborate a philosophical conception of education. Then I address the most basic aspects of consciousness, which are the condition of possibility of experience. Next, I present the two ontological aspects according to which anything manifests itself in the horizon of consciousness’s intelligibility, “being for” and “being in itself”. Then I prepare the conditions to determine what it means “to experiment”, erfahren. Finally, I approach the last aspect of experience: the appearing of a new object. To conclude, I dedicate the last session to the final considerations where I highlight the formative sense of experience.
