SILVEIRA, Denis Coitinho. Morals and Law: a peculiar relationship. Educação e Filosofia [online]. 2021, vol.35, n.73, pp.131-160.  Epub 11-Jan-2024. ISSN 1982-596X.  https://doi.org/10.14393/revedfil.v35n73a2021-59351.

The main aim of this paper is to defend the existence of a peculiar pluridirectional relationship between morals and law, as well as to defend that morality is better understood by its normative authority in second person, specifically in cases involving claims of justice. To this end, I begin by clarifying the central characteristics of morality, highlighting its nature and its normative authority that is intersubjective. Subsequently, I investigate two claims of justice, namely, epistemic injustice and civil disobedience. In conclusion, I suggest a distinction between private and public morality, arguing that this can help us to better understand that there is a pluridirectional relationship between morals and law.
