Abstract

SILVA, Miriã Alves de Laet  and  SILVA, Sílvio Ribeiro da. Reading in school and incidence of “Prova Brasil” descriptors in Portuguese textbooks. Rev. Elet. Educ. [online]. 2016, vol.10, n.2, pp.299-316. ISSN 1982-7199.  https://doi.org/10.4244/198271991428.

This paper presents results on a study about reading. In the educational context, it permeates all the subjects in the Curriculum. This fact is extremely important, since the reading and interpretation activities done by the students should encourage the development of literacy (institutionalized or not). At school, its practice occurs, most of the time, in the textbook (TB) which has been, lately, atracting the interest of researchers who began to see it as an important integrant of the school practices. Considering evaluations are built with reading as a tool to measure the student competencies and skills, we discuss here the proposals for the written text reading and interpretation, presented to the students by the Portuguese textbook Everything is language, Elementary School II - final years, which includes the five topic descriptors of “Prova Brasil”, Portuguese Language Reference Matrix, understanding that the development of competences and skills, proposed by the matrix, combines with significant reading practices. The study presents qualitative interpretative nature, being characterized as case study, situated in the field of Education. It aims to contribute to reflections on the teaching and learning process of reading and interpreting texts. Some theoretical contributions used were PCN, Bakhtin / Volochínov, Bakhtin, Schneuwly and Dolz, among others. The results show that the five “Prova Brasil” Topic I descriptors have been mobilized in the collection, however there is quantitative and qualitative discrepancy of ocorrence among them.
