COSENDEY, Beatriz Nunes  y  SALOMAO, Simone Rocha. Media and education: The ophidians behind the cameras - reptiles or monsters?. Rev. Elet. Educ. [online]. 2016, vol.10, n.3, pp.251-265. ISSN 1982-7199.  https://doi.org/10.14244/198271991708.

Routinely placed in the hot seat by social media, the snakes are animals surrounded by stories and mysteries. Aiming to investigate how the snakes are seen culturally, commercial movies about the subject were analyzed, having some scenes selected and edited to compose a short film (also utilized as teaching material).Through a questionnaire, followed by the short film exhibition and a debate, the previous knowledge about snakes of Pedagogy undergraduates were assessed. The movie analysis showed that they generally exaggerate reality, merging science and fiction. After questionnaire review, it was verified that ancient legends are still valid, the fear prevails when snakes are the topic and inadequate methods of first aid is still in use. Some beliefs were confronted and doubts clarified during the debate, enabling to see snakes in a more reliable way.
