In this article, on the pretext of celebrating the 40th anniversary of PPGE / UFSCar, Brazil, the author, who teaches the Program from the beginning, based on the assumption that it is necessary to preserve collective memories, recalls its creation as well as important moments in its evolution. Special emphasis is given to the areas of concentration of the Program that, historically, have undergone transformations. It is also sought to link the PPGE / UFSCar with the graduation in Education in Brazil. As main sources, the author used her memoirs, documents she wrote on several occasions and others listed in the references.
