The objective of this article is to address, within the scope of its research trajectory, the insertion of the “Critical Theory and Education Research Group” in the PPGE/UFSCar Research Line “Education, Culture and Subjectivity”. In order to do it, the article presents some considerations about the theoretical-methodological framework of the Critical Theory of Society, a brief history of the 25 years of the research group and the current emphasis, in the context of the dilemmas of the digital culture society, about the revitalization of the concepts of cultural industry, formation and semiformation, which are increasingly present in the work of its researchers. Currently, several researchers of the Group, under the guidance of Professor Antônio A. S. Zuin, are studying the way in which the concepts of formation and semiformation are reinvigorated in the society of the digital culture by means of objects, such as: cyberbullying of students against teachers, university and digital culture, education and television, education and social networks, distance education, education and information and communication technologies, public sphere and digital society, among others. The specific analyzes of the classroom, through the empirical reconstruction of the pedagogical sense of education, according to the theoretical-epistemological contribution of the Objective Hermeneutics, stand out in the current research projects led by professor Luiz Roberto Gomes and help the process of interpretation of the impact of digital culture in education.
