RODRIGUES, Luciana Azevedo  e  FARIAS, Marcio Norberto. Aesthetic formation of teachers: a reading of the film “La nuit américaine”. Rev. Elet. Educ. [online]. 2017, vol.11, n.2, pp.384-397. ISSN 1982-7199.  https://doi.org/10.14244/198271992151.

This article aims to contribute to the construction of an awareness of the importance of the study of cinematographic images in the formation of teachers, in view of the intensification of these images both with respect to their greater presence in the daily life of the people, as well as their greater technical capacity to present themselves as if it were reality itself. In order to do so, this work makes a critical reading of Francois Truffaut’s film “The American Night”, considering it within a theoretical constellation constituted by the thought of C. Türcke on the ubiquity of audiovisual images in contemporary society, extracted from the experience of the authors as professors of undergraduate courses and by the understanding of what Walter Benjamin understood as alienation of the corporal sensory. The repeated observations of sequences of this film, within this constellation, led to the highlighting of thematic and formal aspects of the film, recognized as potentially formative for the development of a critical conscience in relation to the consumption of audiovisual images that have as characteristic the erasure, All cost, of the presence of the mediations that exist between the world of the screen and that of reality. In discussing how the attention of the people has been occupied by audiovisual images that have as characteristic to present themselves as mere extensions of reality, and as the graduates enchant themselves with these images by offering themselves as substitutes of their reality, this work concludes by the aesthetic potentiality and reflective of the film.
