The discourses that permeate any discussion of education are extremely marked by social, political, cultural and ideological relations that are experienced by the subjects of the history. The language, thus, that reflects part of the symbolic set of these discourses, constitutes a powerful means of signification and re-signification of various genres and one of the most important ways for the analysis of these discourses. It is in the context of these discussions, based on Foucault’s theories of subjectivity and writing processes of the self and on the enunciative and discursive theories of language, with the theoretical support of the French Discourse Analysis, which this article aimed to observe the marks of objectification and subjectivity that are evident in student texts in military training, after interaction with video images produced by other students in different contexts. In discursive analysis of the texts of this study, it was evidenced regularities marked by the choice of words which referred to certain lexical fields of legitimacy in relation to the disciplinary power to which they are subjected. The article, therefore, takes a look at the perceptions and questions regarding the routine of military life that emerge from the “write of the self” of the subjects at the beginning of military training.
