Abstract

LIMA, Emília Freitas de; CONTI, Celso Luiz Aparecido  and  NASCENTE, Renata Maria Moschen. Management, curriculum and teaching in analysis: towards a fair and democratic school. Rev. Elet. Educ. [online]. 2017, vol.11, n.3, pp.691-705. ISSN 1982-7199.  https://doi.org/10.14244/198271992392.

In this text, 12 dissertations and theses are analyzed. They were produced at the subareas Educational Politics/ Management, and Curriculum, which belong to the research line: School education: theories and practices - PPGE-UFSCar, produced within 2013-2017. This period followed the program restructuration in 2010. Ten dissertations and two theses referring to basic public schools were selected, being grouped in three themes: management, curriculum and teaching. Democracy and justice were pervasive topics in the twelve works. Democracy, recurrent issue in the school and system management productions, even due to legislation, have not been always taken into consideration, mainly regarding school specifics as an institution aimed at to carry out work intrinsically pedagogic. Thought as a cosmovision, democracy may not be understood separately from justice. This implies in conceive democracy at school not only from the formal/institutional angle, directed to the decision making process, its movement and places, following, in reduced scale, the representative democracy used to the political organization of society in general. Think and make democracy implies in living it, teaching it and learning it, in the curricular scope, which involves entering the school culture terrain, and school specific culture, as so to advance beyond administrative/managerial aspects.
